Independence

Businesses cannot pay to change their reviews, their rating or the facts shown in their listing. Paid Premium placement can make a listing appear higher in results; it is always labeled Premium or Sponsored. How listings are compiled and ordered is described in our methodology.

Reviews

  • Reviews must describe a real experience with the business. Each account can review a business once.
  • We do not write, buy or sell reviews, and we do not offer anything in exchange for a positive review.
  • Owners, employees, relatives and competitors of a business must not review it. Businesses must not offer incentives for reviews or ask only happy customers to leave one.
  • We do not remove or hide reviews because they are negative. We remove reviews that are fake, paid for, written with a conflict of interest, abusive, spam, or that break the law.
  • Anyone can report a review. Owners can reply publicly from their dashboard.
  • A rating is shown only when it is based on reviews submitted on Calinear.

Automated and AI-assisted text

Some page introductions are written from templates that use listing data. If we use AI tools to draft text, it must be based only on information we hold, a person reviews it before it is published, and it is not used to invent ratings, reviews, prices, licenses or awards.

Claims we avoid

We do not describe businesses as "trusted", "verified", "licensed" or "top-rated" unless that is backed by a specific, checkable record, such as a license number confirmed with the issuing board on a stated date.

Corrections

When we learn that information is wrong, we correct or remove it. Business owners, people named in a listing and visitors can all ask for a correction or removal. We aim to respond within 7 days.
